watch I am always grateful when the subject you are photographing give you all the time you need. Did a shoot recently with National Arts Centre president Peter Herrndorf for The Globe and Mail. He never once said are you done.
I have been lucky to have been able to take several portraits of Governor General David Johnston during his time at Rideau Hall. He was one of the easiest people I have worked with. He was always willing to pose for any photo I suggested. What a great sport. Thanks for all the great opportunities, Excellency.
My time with the RCMP Commission Bob Paulson has come full circle. Photographed him on the first day of his appointment to the job in 2011 and now on his last day.
Recently I photographed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for an assignment for the Toronto Star. I had two tasks – photograph him during the Star’s interview with him and also take a more formal portrait. The PMO generously provided time for me to set up and test my formal shot before the PM arrived for the interview. I had a bit of time to decide what to do and one of Trudeau’s staff members even agreed to pose for the test shot. The interview proceeded and when it ended, I asked the PM to sit at his desk for the formal shot. He obliged and I managed to capture 20 frames before he had to leave for another appointment.
